Manadon Vale Primary School has recently been awarded the prestigious UNICEF Bronze Award for Rights Respecting Schools (RRSA).
The nationally recognised award acknowledges that as a school Manadon Vale ethos is based on principles of equality, dignity, respect, non-discrimination and participation. The RRSA puts the United Nations Convention for the Rights of the Child at the heart of a school’s ethos and culture to improve well-being and develop every child’s talent and ability to reach their full potential.
Lead teacher for RRSA, Jess Bryssau said:
“The children have worked really hard to articulate their understanding of their rights and responsibilities and how these help them in everyday life.
“Not only have we just been accredited for the Bronze award, but we are also already well on our way to gaining the Silver award thanks to the hard work of our entire staff team and the support given to children!”
Manadon Vale Primary is part of the Connect Academy Trust, a group of eight primaries in Plymouth and Torbay. The schools co-designed and wrote the UK’s first Ocean Conservation Curriculum which helps children of all ages to understand the planet and the role everyone has in protecting and conserving it.
