Zephyr Burgers has a growing reputation for serving up some of the best burgers in Plymouth and you can see why!
Originally set up in London 2017 by Oz and Sheena, Zephyr Burgers gained a vast following for their crusty smashed patties and then moved back to their hometown of Plymouth with the restaurant on Drake Circus opening in 2022. It has lots of skate & surf references throughout, a vision from the owners.

We dined on a Tuesday night and were amazed at how busy the restaurant was. This is the moment when you know you’re in for a treat. We would highly recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment.

The restaurant has a friendly relaxed dining space with a casual atmosphere which makes you feel right at home. It therefore doesn’t matter when you get sauce all over your face, believe us this happened!

The menu has a selection of cheeseburgers and chicken burgers with specials that run throughout the year, and these have definitely got a big following with people coming back time and time again to get their hands on the latest creation.
We went for their current special which was the ‘Birria Burger.’ (NOW SOLD OUT) For those unfamiliar with a ‘Birria’ Burger this is when Birria meat is served with it’s braising liquid on the side to form the most incredible consommé which is perfect for dunking your burger. Warning – it gets messy!
The Birria Burger consisted of a double aged beef patty, American cheese, pulled Birria braised beef, griddle cheese crisp, white onion, coriander bone “marrownaise” with the Birria consume dip. I’m not often lost for words, but this was just an out of body experience. The first bite transports you back to the first time you ever tried a burger. Hurry though as this special is only available from the 10th Sept until it runs out, so get yourself booked in ASAP.

We also had the Buffalo Chicken Burger which had the most crispy chicken thigh topped with American cheese, Buffalo sauce, Ranch dressing, iceberg lettuce and house pickles.

Now a moment to shout out the sides! Zephyr Burgers will spoil you for choice when it comes to choosing what to accompany your burger with. We had a selection of sides which included the Truffle Tots, potatoes topped with truffle oil, parmesan and garlic aioli. We also really enjoyed the Crispy Pork Belly ‘Nuggz’ coated in a BBQ rub, BBQ sauce and crispy fried onions. We had to get the Mac and Cheese with Butter Panko breadcumbs, Parmesan alongside a house slaw coated in a lime and Dijon vinaigrette.

Local chefs rave about this place and being massive foodies ourselves, we were equally impressed. When a burger is done right, it can be one of the best experiences and this is exactly what you will get with Zephyr Burgers. A real food gem in our city.
