A young boy from Plymouth has shown how determination and hard work can pay off after delivering newspapers and completing 5 jobs between September and December to save up for a new electric guitar.
Newspaper delivery has been a staple income for young people for generations, offering both a chance to earn money and build a sense of responsibility. The Plymouth Chronicle is proud to continue this tradition, providing local young people like Josh with opportunities to earn while supporting the community.
Josh started his paper round in the autumn of 2024, delivering copies of the Plymouth Chronicle Newspaper to homes in his local area.
Over five delivery rounds, including an extra route over the Christmas holidays, Josh cycled from his house with bundles of newspapers, distributing them door-to-door and earning him £204.65.
In total, Josh delivered an impressive 4,550 newspapers between September and December.

Josh took on the job after his father enquired about available rounds, explaining that Josh wanted to save for his dream guitar but had limited ways to earn money. By December, his dedication had paid off, and the guitar he had been saving for finally arrived.
His father shared the proud moment on social media, saying:
“He’s done it! A few months ago, Joshua started a paper round with the goal of saving all his earnings to buy himself a new electric guitar.
Today it arrived! He’s super chuffed, and I’m super proud of him! Hard work pays off!”
The Plymouth Chronicle delivers 92,000 free copies each month to homes across Plymouth, offering hyper-local news sourced from the community. It is entirely supported by advertising from local businesses.
