…that’s the advice for students from young wrestling stars.
Two young wrestling stars spent time with students from the Argyle Community Trust – encouraging them to achieve their dreams.
Welshmen Mark Andrews and Australian Rhea Ripley were on the bill for the WWE NXT UK wrestling event at the Plymouth Pavilions – and took time out to train with the Plymouth Argyle first team.
Later the two wrestlers delivered an inspirational talk to youngsters who are studying BTEC or NVQ courses with the Argyle Community Trust. They also ran a workshop on nutrition and wellbeing.
Rhea, 22, is the NXT UK Women’s Champion, having been wrestling since the age of 16. She told the students to be determined, work hard and ‘follow the dream.’
Mark, 26, has wrestled since the age of 13 and although he weighs just 10 stone, is making a big name for himself on the NXT UK circuit with his athleticism and skill.
Mark said that despite his ambition to become a wrestler, his father persuaded him it would be sensible to go to university.
“I did my degree, learned video editing and also launched a clothing brand,” said Mark.
“I never dreamed I would make it big time in wrestling – but along the way I learned important skills that have definitely helped me in my career,” he said. “Surround yourselves with the things you love doing – and then give it 100 per cent.”
