Boost for Stonehouse Scout group

A Plymouth Scout group has been rewarded for its valuable work in the community.

1st Stonehouse Scout group have received a £500 community grant from their local councillors in recognition of all their endeavours.

The group recently welcomed local councillors Alison Raynsford and Chris Penberthy to their weekly meeting where the cheque was officially handed over.

The grant has significant value for Scout group as it will enhance their outdoor experiences, with the funds being earmarked for essential camp gear, ensuring that the young adventurers can engage in a wider array of activities while enjoying enhanced comfort and safety.

1st Stonehouse Scout group, plays a big part in the Stonehouse community, meeting every Monday during term time at the local High Street Primary Academy. Their commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders and explorers is greatly appreciated, and the grant is testament to the invaluable work they do.

With the new found support from their local councillors, the group is poised to embark on even greater adventures, fostering camaraderie, resilience, and a profound appreciation for the great outdoors among local youth.

Councillor Alison Raynsford said:

“Councillors Penberthy, Tuffin and I were delighted to support the very positive work with young people from across Stonehouse. It was lovely to see the enthusiasm of the Group Scout Leader, volunteers, Scouts, Cubs and Beavers. The community grant will be put to very good use.”

1st Stonehouse Scout group’s chairman Roland said:

“As a local organisation we endeavour to foster the skills and attributes associated with the Scouting Movement. With the councillors grant we can now purchase improved equipment for the benefit of our young people. Allowing them to fully experience the joy of camping. Thank you for supporting this ambition.”
