Compton Councillor Charlotte Carlyle is spearheading a campaign to clean up Moorview Park in Mutley
Working with fellow Councillor Angela Penrose, Prospective Parliamentary candidate Gareth Streeter, Greenbank Youth Ambassadors, and members of 9th/21st Scouts. Charlotte has made it her mission to clean up Moorview park, which is just off Mutley Plain.
Tucked away behind The Fortescue pub, the small park, fondly called a pocket park, once won awards in Devon and was a Green Flag park, but was left overgrown, covered in litter and being used for anti-social behaviour on a daily basis since lockdown.

Working with the community, Charlotte organised a local clean up, cutting back bushes, cleaning litter and sorting out unsightly graffiti. And a team from Plymouth City Council team have gone in to cut back the bushes and tidy up the beds.
They have also been liaising with the local police to act as a deterrent to any anti-social behaviour, but more needs to be done.
Councillor Carlyle said:
“We need your help! The stage had to be dismantled due to people hiding drugs and needles in there and smashing it up, but the locals would like a stage so it can go back to being a community park with events and live music once again.

“We have the funding for the materials that are needed but we really need a business or charity that would like to take on the challenge of building a new stage as part of a community project.

Moorview Park is a pocket sized park just east of Mutley Plain with paths, a stage, a sensory garden and seating. Moorview Park gets its name because it offers distant views of Dartmoor National Park with residential cityscape in the middle distance.
The park is a great place to get away from it all, offering a slice of peace and relaxation. The park was renovated in 2009.
