Over 130 young people along with family and friends took part in a community 3K Fun Run in Honicknowle to collectively raise over £1,000 to help support community football teams.
The race was held on the grounds of All Saints Academy Plymouth on June 2, and organised by local charity YMCA Plymouth in conjunction various teams from YMCA All Saints and Plymouth Warriors football clubs.
“It’s lovely to see people from the community come out to help their cause and raise so much money for local clubs.”
Barry Sellers, YMCA All Saints FC football coach said:
“We’re really pleased to see so many people turn out and get involved. Our club has been hoping purchase a new lawnmower to keep our pitch in shape. It may only seem like a small thing, but these kinds of events are really important to help small clubs like ours.”
People from all ages got involved on the sunny June morning which was ideal running conditions. The run was intended to be safe by keeping to the school grounds and with the accessible distance of three kilometres that all abilities could take part in.
