Plans to build a hotel on land currently used as a car park for Plymouth Pavilions have been submitted to Plymouth City Council.
The proposal includes the six-storey 175-bed hotel – with associated restaurant, bar and leisure facilities – landscaping, car parking along with seven three bedroom town houses and seven ‘extended stay’ apartments for short-term let.
The development plan has been submitted on behalf of Vastint UK, a subsidiary of the Dutch-based parent company which has acquired the site.
Vastint are an international real estate organisation with over 25 years of experience. It has undertaken numerous projects across Europe, including several in the UK.
It has successfully delivered developments for Marriott’s Moxy Hotel brand, which is the one proposed for the Plymouth site – which is at the junction of Bath Street and Millbay Road.
According to the planning application Moxy Hotels are three star, lifestyle establishments offering affordable luxury to guests with a ‘vibrant, young spirit at heart.’
If given the go-ahead it is hoped that the hotel and associated development will be completed in time for the Mayflower 400 celebrations in 2020.
