Job Quotes
Our team of more than 50 part time self employed distributors includes young people, adults and active seniors who have enjoyed delivering the Plymouth Chronicle for years – we asked them why:
“It’s great exercise, I think of it as I’m getting paid to do my steady state cardio. Good for the waistline and the wallet!” Mary, working Mum, delivering for two years
“Good company to work for. Work when you want to and get fit at the same time.” Ness, semi-retired, delivering for more than 5 years
“I am senior, but this helps to stay fit and mobile. It’s not about the money, it’s going for a walk and meeting people.” Nigel, retired, delivering for 10 years
“1) I like earning my own money. 2) I like seeing different people I deliver to and have made friends with. 3) I like getting to know my community area. 4) Doing it around my hobbies. 5) Getting me fitter and challenging me to get quicker.” Ady, 16, delivering for 2 years
“Opportunity to exercise and meet people. Fresh air, great exercise and makes me feel re-invigorated. Earns some extra money while getting in my daily steps. Never dull, always new people to say hello to. It’s a challenge, lots of steps sometimes, but one feels one has achieved something. I always look forward to delivering to a new area, always supported by Cornerstone who are only a phone call away if I have a query.” Tim, retired, delivering for more than 10 years
“My favourite thing about this job is the exercise I get from walking and delivering. I also like the flexibility of working according to my own schedule, so I can work around my other commitments.” Baz, student age 18, delivering for 3 years
“I enjoy working for you because you are such lovely people, being out helps my depression and keeps me healthy.” Chloe, delivering more than 7 years
“What works for me is that the papers get delivered on a day of your choice and it’s very flexible if you’re away and can’t do the round any time. I started doing the round with my teenage son as it was a great way for him to earn some money, and I have kept it up myself. You can choose the time of day that you do the deliveries.” Jenny, delivering more than 7 years
“I like the flexibility. We’re newish to the area, so it’s good for us to get out and explore. Helps me get motivated to get active.” Anne, delivering for two years with her teenage son.
“I like that once a month you get a week to complete the round. It gets you out in the fresh air and as you have the same round each time, you can get to know the route really well.” Julie, delivering more than 5 years
