Plymouth Seafest returned for its annual celebration of the sea. With events to enjoy across The Barbican, Sutton Harbour, The Waterfront and Royal William Yard.

There was plenty of things to keep the whole family entertained including free diving sessions at Tinside Lido, face-painting, rock pools and music, as well as cooking demonstrations outside The Waterfront pub.
Being a National Marine Park, it’s extremely important to find out what lurks beneath our waters and how we can make the city a better and more sustainable place to live. On the Barbican, we enjoyed learning about all the types of fish that live in Plymouth Sound as well as learning some filleting techniques which was fascinating to watch.
Over the course of two days, visitors were treated to a large variety of local food traders, interactive stalls where you could learn about seafood and marine life as well as listening to some sea shanties. We loved the Tavy Tars!

Whats On, Plymouth Events: Seafest 2024 announces new partnership
We are always so spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing what to try. After several laps around the food stalls, we decided to try the ‘Fish Gumbo’ from Mumbo Gumbo and a fish goujons bap from City College Plymouth.
The Gumbo was packed full of flavour, with big pieces of haddock, king prawns and crab. A real taste of the sea. This was washed down beautifully with a sweet peach iced tea.
Golden crispy fish goujons topped with creamy tartare sauce was also a tasty combination on a warm and sunny day on the barbican.
Throughout the event there were impressive one pot pans of seafood paella and Goan curries, an Oyster shack, Tomahawk steaks and mackerel fillets, it was a real seafest spectacle!
Being an ‘Ocean City” Plymouth’s Seafest is the perfect showcase of our local produce and a real celebration for our city. We already can’t wait for 2025!
