Plymouth businesses, community groups and sustainability experts came together at Boringdon Park Golf Club for the Climate Connections Net Zero Expo, an event focused on real solutions that can help the city cut emissions and save money.

The Expo is Plymouth’s first major business focused climate event, organised by Climate Connections and supported by Plymouth City Council. More than 30 exhibitors showcased ideas that can make net zero achievable for homes, workplaces and community spaces. Topics included green travel, renewable energy, low carbon construction, waste reduction and practical monitoring tools.
One of the strongest themes was innovation happening right here in the city. Altilium, based in Plympton, introduced its large scale electric vehicle battery recycling project, which will eventually process up to 24,000 batteries a year. This will create skilled local jobs and support the UK’s shift to cleaner transport.
Other exhibitors, including Recycle It Global, Coaction and Warm, Attain Zero, Stride Treglown and Eljay Energy, shared examples of how small changes can reduce emissions and improve comfort in homes and businesses. Many spoke about helping people take their first steps toward net zero by focusing on simple, affordable changes.
The event also aligns with Plymouth’s wider Net Zero Action Plan. Climate Connections continues to bring together organisations through workshops, business networks and a local directory that helps companies find support and share their progress.
The strong turnout at the Expo shows that Plymouth businesses are ready to take action now. Many attendees left with practical ideas they can use immediately, from cutting energy use to improving transport choices.
