Plymouth Community Homes (PCH) secure 15 energy-efficient homes at Palmerston Heights in Derriford.
Plymouth Community Homes, the largest social housing landlord in Plymouth which manages 16,000 homes in the city and beyond, have purchased 15 new homes within the fourth phase of the Palmerston Heights development in Derriford.
Of the 15 homes, 10 will be offered for affordable rent and five homes will be made available for shared ownership purchase through SO Living.
In a press release from Plymouth Community Homes, the new homes will be prioritised to those with a local connection to the area to meet the specific needs of the community, which has been made possible thanks to the support from key partner, Plymouth City Council.
The Palmerston Heights development being built by Persimmon Homes is located on the south-facing side of the Forder Valley and is close to Derriford Hospital, with direct access to the A38 Devon Expressway.
The development is well-placed to benefit from the Plymouth City Council’s vision of a ‘New Derriford’ and the homes within the fourth phase will be equipped with air source heat pumps and cycle storage to encourage active travel.
PCH previously worked with Persimmon Homes on the Trevethan Meadows development in Liskeard, delivering 45 affordable homes across phase three and four, including 37 homes for rent and eight for shared ownership.
Councillor Chris Penberthy, Cabinet Member for Housing, Communities and Cooperative Development at Plymouth City Council, said:
“The purchasing of these homes by Plymouth Community Homes will make such a difference to so many families across our city.
“I welcome any and all additions to Plymouth’s affordable housing stock and wish the new residents best wishes in their new homes.”
The homes which are to be offered for rent or shared ownership sale through PCH will be available from Spring 2025.
All available homes to rent in Devon are advertised on Devon Home Choice, a partnership of local social landlords. To bid for a property or to be considered for a tenancy, registration will need to be completed using their online application form.
