The Course is set for Team Endeavour in the RS Venture Para World championship sailing event 28th September to the 3rd October.
Team Endeavour raises money and awareness for children and families of the Armed Forces who are suffering through Illness, Hardship and Poverty. Team Endeavour also supports other fantastic charities with fundraising events and their latest event involves training for the RS Sailing World Championship, as in previous years, the event will be open to both ‘Para’ teams and ‘Inclusive’ Teams and will be held at Rutland Sailing Club in the United Kingdom.
Team Endeavour are celebrating the fact that three members from endeavours community sports club; Roch Rochester as helm of Punisher, Dani Dyson as crew & Lee Taff Thomas as helm of Endeavour have just finished an intense two-day race training with a GB sailing coach.
Roch Rochester from Plymouth Punishers/Team Endeavour said:
“Both boats are funded by veterans’ foundation and all the players that play the veterans lottery have made this possible.”
“Plymouth sound proves to have some challenging weather combinations which put the boats and the crews on the edge of their ability. By day two the confidence in both crews was obvious to see, in high winds they skillfully manoeuvre their boats in Plymouth sound, one of the finest amphitheatres for water sports in the UK.”

Team Endeavour Plymouth Wheelchair Rugby Club receives £5000 donation
The veterans sailing ran by Plymouth youth sailing club is an initiative to get veterans and their dependants into sailing.

The sailing training days were a true tri-service effort, with veterans from the RAF, Army, and Navy coming together with:
- Lee Taff Thomas RAF veteran lower limb amputee as helm of Endeavour
- Roch Rochester, ARMY as a helm of Punisher
- Two safety powerboat operators Gary Hardwick, Royal Navy & Terry Keen, Royal Marine
All veterans came together to help each other to achieve their best and continue to inspire others to achieve, regardless of their injuries.
Roch Rochester and Dani Dyson both wheelchair users are so grateful and humbled by their fellow veterans and the staff at Plymouth Youth Sailing Club for all the help they put in to getting them on the water and the positive work they do with our veterans community here in the south west.
In a press release Roch Rochester of Team Endeavour said:
“Our final days training went well, bending the new race sails in and flying the big black race spinnakers for the first time. The turn of speed compared to the blue training sails is remarkable [and] we are up against international sailors who are well established sailing on the world stage.
Due to the belief in us from the Veterans foundation staff and all the players of the lottery. We all thank you for the chance, as we hope to have a great experience and a good innings.
To pay back the faith and patience the coaching staff at Plymouth youth sailing have invested in the crews. The mount batten centre is a great accessible centre, and accessible sailing is here to stay.”
