A primary school in St Budeaux is scoring top marks in reading, writing and maths.
Education data released by the Department for Education showed that Marine Academy Primary received well above average progress scores for reading, writing and maths with their reading scores being in the top one per cent in the country.
The scores show how much progress pupils made between the end of Key Stage 1 and the end of Key Stage 2, compared to pupils across England who got similar results at the end of Key Stage 1.

A total of 93 per cent of disadvantaged pupils and 80 per cent of all pupils at the school are meeting the expected standard in reading, writing and maths, far above the England and local authority average of 60 per cent.
A quarter of pupils are achieving a higher standard in reading, writing and maths, which is much higher than the local authority average of seven per cent and the England average of eight per cent and is the highest result in Plymouth.

The school’s average score in KS2 reading and maths tests was also higher than the local authority and England average.
