Woodfield Primary and Nursery School have said a fond farewell to nursery assistant Mo Croston, who is retiring after nearly 20 years in her role at the nursery in Whitleigh.
Mo has worked tirelessly in the community and been a key person to hundreds of children in Whitleigh, having supported whole families and multiple generations as they’ve grown up including parents, aunties, uncles and siblings.
Over the last 20 years, Mo has always put children first and supported families when times were tough, building great relationships with the local community.
Julie Packer, Early Years lead at the school, said:
“Mo has been such a huge part of our team. We are going to miss the fun and the care she gives to the children, families and to us as a staff team. She has been an incredible inspiration to me to be resilient and to balance determination and passion for the community we work with. We are all going to miss her and wish her well as she enjoys the adventure of retirement!”

Tessa Saunders, headteacher, said:
“Mo has been a valued team member supporting children and their families in the Whitleigh community for 20 years. She is so wonderfully kind and caring ensuring that all children in her care get the best start in life. We are truly grateful for everything she has done, we will miss her fun-loving nature and wish her all the very best with her retirement.”
The team at Woodfield Primary said Mo always had time to stop and chat and ask about people’s lives, caring about the children and supporting their families when times are tough, describing her as ‘incredible’.
They said:
“We as a staff, the wider Academy Trust, the parents and mostly the children wish her well and thank her for some amazing memories. She will be truly missed and we wish her the very best. Thank you for all you have done for us and our community!”
