Theatre Royal Plymouth is set to welcome the critically acclaimed stage adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird as part of its first-ever UK and Ireland tour. The production, adapted by Oscar-winning screenwriter Aaron Sorkin, will run in Plymouth from 10 – 14 March 2026.
Following sold-out runs on Broadway and in London’s West End, the adaptation of Harper Lee’s classic novel To Kill A Mockingbird has been widely praised for its powerful storytelling and contemporary relevance. The play, which explores themes of racial injustice and morality in 1930s Alabama, will be directed by Tony Award-winner Bartlett Sher.
The UK and Ireland tour will open at Leeds Playhouse in September 2025 before travelling to major cities, including Nottingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leicester, Cardiff, and Salford.
Plymouth audiences will have the opportunity to experience the production before it continues to venues such as Canterbury, Southampton, Birmingham, and Liverpool.
To Kill a Mockingbird follows the story of lawyer Atticus Finch, who defends a black man wrongly accused of a crime in a deeply prejudiced society. The novel, inspired by Harper Lee’s own childhood, has sold over 45 million copies worldwide and won the Pulitzer Prize for Literature.

Aaron Sorkin, best known for The West Wing and The Social Network, has brought his signature style to the adaptation, receiving widespread acclaim. The production has been described as “spellbinding” by The Daily Mail and “powerful, important, and deeply moving” by The Sunday Express.
