Residents of St Budeaux are being invited to apply for a new neighbourhood board that will help decide how £20 million of investment is spent in the area over the next decade.
The St Budeaux Neighbourhood Board, announced by Labour MP Fred Thomas will be responsible for guiding projects funded through the government’s Pride in Place programme.
The board is expected to include local residents, business owners and community representatives.
The funding, totalling £20 million over ten years, is intended to support long-term improvements within St Budeaux. The first £2 million is expected to be available from April 2027.
Decisions on how the money is used will be made locally, rather than by central government or Plymouth City Council.
Applications to join the board opened on Monday and will close at 5pm on Monday 9 February. Anyone with a connection to St Budeaux can apply, including people who live in the area, run local businesses or are involved in community groups.
Young people are particularly encouraged to apply.
Applicants are asked to provide their contact details, a CV and a short cover letter explaining their connection to St Budeaux, the experience they would bring to the board and their initial thoughts on how the funding could be spent.
Applications are open until 5pm on Monday 9th February, and applicants are asked to submit the following information by emailing fred.thomas.mp@parliament.uk
While places on the board are limited, organisers say there will be further opportunities for residents to contribute through community meetings and wider consultation as plans are developed.
