Devon & Cornwall Police in Plymouth are driving their commitment to be more visible in communities across the city, visiting over 50 addresses in the Stonehouse area.
Police Inspector Greg Bridgett said:
“We know that seeing a police officer can have a huge impact on our communities, both on the safety of the area and also by providing a reassuring presence on our streets.”
As part of their push to be visible, the neighbourhood team also ran an engagement session in the Stonehouse area. The event provided an opportunity for the public to meet police officers working in their local area.
“Many people will never have to engage with a police officer in their lifetime, but if people need to, we want to make sure that everyone feels able to come forward to report crime or ask for help. By having a regular presence on our streets and in our neighbourhoods, we hope to achieve that.”
As a result of their proactive engagement, it led to over 10 pieces of information being shared with the police to support their investigations, including those investigating drug supply. An individual was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis. Around 2kg of cannabis was seized.

Officers also visited a local school with mascot ‘Bravo’ to form positive relationships with young people.
Inspector Bridgett added:
“Connecting with communities at events, while on patrol or through door-to-door visits is a great way for us to show that our police officers are supportive, compassionate and approachable. This work will continue across Plymouth throughout the year.”
