
Jim Shipton, a member of Plymouth Lions Club held a garden party at his Derriford home to raise funds for the Marie Curie Charity and other local Lion charities.
The party was attended by more than 60 people, including Alan Drummond, the chairman of Marie Curie South West and his wife Carol, who is an ex-Marie Curie nurse.

All were treated to music from the Hele’s School Jazz Band. Delicious hot dishes of assorted curries and pastas, followed by traditional cakes of many flavours, with scones topped with jam and cream and cups of tea.
A special cake to commemorate Marie Curie Cancer Nurses Charity was presented and distributed to all party goers and a raffle with numerous prizes donated by various individuals.
The total sum raised, to be shared between Marie Curie Cancer Nurses and other local Lion charities amounted to a figure in excess of £800, which will be presented to the chairities by Lion President, Ian Hill.
The Lions gratitude goes to Lion Jim and all his family who took part in preparing such a successful event.
