Charities join forces to protect people sleeping rough (P.2)
Plymouth homelessness charity Path and the Christian charity Transforming Plymouth Together (TPT) have come together to launch Project 58:7, a new winter shelter initiative
Built on compassion and practical support, the project will transform a network of churches into safe shelters offering warmth, dignity and support for people sleeping rough across Plymouth during the coldest months of the year. The initiative is funded by The Rank Foundation.
National recognition for Derriford’s team treating myeloma patients (P.3)
The team treating patients with myeloma at Derriford Hospital have received national recognition for the service and commitment to patients living with incurable blood cancer.
The haematology team have been presented with the Myeloma UK Clinical Service Excellence Programme (CSEP) Award in recognition of its outstanding care and dedication to patients with myeloma, an incurable blood cancer which claims the lives of 3,000 people in the UK each year.
Tor Bridge High students given insight into career opportunities (P.6)
Students from Tor Bridge High attended a major careers event hosted by City College Plymouth for an inspiring ‘A World of Work Taster Day.’
The event, which involved students from Years 8, 9 and 10 was delivered in partnership with Morgan Sindall Construction and a range of industry collaborators.

Southway-based Silicon Sensing, is celebrating a major business milestone.
The company, which supplies motion sensing systems for a range of applications has produced its 30 millionth inertial sensor.
Plymouth hospital’s excellence in student nurse placements recognised with two awards (P.12)
A local hospital team has been recognised by Plymouth University for its outstanding commitment to supporting student nurses during their clinical placements.
The hospital received two certificates of recognition from the university’s placement team, following nominations from students themselves.
Student refuses to let painful injury derail her dreams (P.13)
A journalism student and rugby player from Plymouth Marjon University put her own painful knee injury to one side to take up the chance of a lifetime as a media intern at the Women’s Rugby World Cup.
Ashleigh Rollins, 20, who comes from South Molton, secured a paid internship with World Rugby in partnership with Women’s Rugby World Cup England 2025, giving her the opportunity to interview the heroes of her favourite sport

A local dental practice has continued its outreach programme with a visit to Mary Dean’s Church of England Primary School in Tamerton Foliot.
The Eilertsen Dental Care Smile team is made up of dental care practitioners who go out into the community to help educate the public about oral and dental health
Pupils at Mary Dean’s Primary enjoyed an extra-special lesson when the EDC Smile Team dropped in to deliver a fun and informative oral-health workshop.

There was a very special event at Home Park on December 10 when lifelong supporter Charlie Trevethan celebrated his 100th birthday surrounded by friends, family and a host of Argyle supporters.
I would love to have been there to celebrate with Charlie, but a long-standing previous engagement prevented me from attending.
