Sitting on the stunning Tamar estuary, China Fleet Country Club has a new relaxed and casual dining area which offers an array of dishes that appeal to both casual diners and food enthusiast alike.
The new China Fleet Brasserie has an extensive menu with authentic Italian stone-baked pizzas, pasta dishes, salad bowls, favourites from ‘The Grill’ as well as weekly specials.
For starters we had some beautifully crispy salt and pepper squid which was served with an accompanying salad as well as a stack of halloumi fries served with two types of dip. (Sweet Chill & Garlic Mayo.) As there was so many starters that took our fancy, we opted to share between the two which is perfect for those indecisive guests. We can’t wait to go back to try their Hot & Spicy Chicken Wings.

Being so close to the Tamar estuary, for mains, we went for the locally landed grilled bream fillet which came with a smooth, creamy mashed potato, tender stem broccoli, prawns and a Cornish compound butter. This was a perfect dish when you’re so close to the water and you can taste how fresh the fish was.
We also went for the crispy golden-breaded chicken which was served alongside a tomato & basil tagliatelle and the option of a salad or garlic bread. Of course, we went for the Garlic bread!
Our highlight of the meal was the Biscoff Profiteroles. The profiteroles were topped with pieces of fudge and the most amazing crème Anglaise. If you are a fan of Biscoff then this is something that you MUST try, but it’s up to you whether you share.
Nestled in the serene Cornish countryside, the Brasserie has a welcoming community feel with large windows offering views of the facilities and beautiful grounds.
A staple in the Cornwall community since 1991, China Fleet is open to members as well as the public and offers a variety of dining options such as breakfast and even Afternoon Tea.
Just a quick hop over the Tamar Bridge, China Fleet also has a fun-packed calendar throughout the year with some great events coming up. Keep an eye out for their Take That Tribute Night, free Christmas fair, Santa’s grotto carvery and their New Year’s Eve party. You can also treat yourself to a relaxing spa day!
