New production images have been released for the critically acclaimed stage play Punch ahead of its run at Theatre Royal Plymouth next month.
Written by James Graham and based on the book Right from Wrong by Jacob Dunne, the production will be staged at Theatre Royal Plymouth from 14–18 April 2026.
The powerful drama tells the true story of Dunne, a Nottingham teenager whose life changed after a single punch during a night out led to the death of 28-year-old paramedic James Hodgkinson.
After serving time in prison, Dunne is invited to meet Hodgkinson’s parents, Joan and David. The meeting becomes the starting point for a profound journey exploring forgiveness and restorative justice.
The production has already sparked debate about restorative justice following its opening at Nottingham Playhouse last week.
The cast includes Jack James Ryan as Jacob, alongside Grace Hodgett Young, Matthew Flynn, Finty Williams, Laura Tebbutt and Elan Butler.
Alongside the performances, Theatre Royal Plymouth will host post-show discussions and audience reflection sessions, giving people the chance to explore the themes raised in the play.
James Mackenzie-Blackman, chief executive and artistic director of Theatre Royal Plymouth, said the theatre was “honoured” to stage the production, describing it as a powerful story about forgiveness and change.
Punch will be staged in The Lyric theatre at Theatre Royal Plymouth.
