A new mobility showroom is opening in Plymouth this week, as national retailer CareCo expands its network to include a dedicated facility in Plympton.
The site located at Cot Hill Close, just off the A38 opens its doors on Thursday 6 June and will serve as the 35th showroom for CareCo across the UK.
The company, which specialises in mobility aids and equipment, says the Plymouth store will provide in-person support for those seeking greater independence.

The retailer is a member of the British Healthcare Trades Association (BHTA) and adheres to its customer care standards. The move to open in Plymouth comes amid a broader effort to improve accessibility through localised support and physical showrooms, rather than relying solely on online sales.
The opening comes at a time when Plymouth is facing considerable accessibility challenges. According to Plymouth City Council, over 57,000 residents meet the Equality Act definition of disability. This includes more than 25,000 people whose day-to-day activities are “limited a lot.” These rates are higher than both regional and national averages.
Accessibility concerns are particularly concentrated in areas such as Devonport, St Budeaux, and Honicknowle, where up to a quarter of the population lives with a disability. With limited access to convenient and inclusive public transport, many residents rely on home aids, scooters, and mobility equipment to maintain independence. [1]
